I have fitted a standard 15T front & 39T rear sprocket to lower the gearing as recommended to make the bike better at lower speeds. Kit was supplied with a 98 link chain (BikeTorque - great price & service) On fitting the kit today with the 98 link chain the adjusters seem very near the end of the adjustment slot. If I shorten the chain it moves way forward! Anybody already done this , and what would you recommend? Pics show both alternatives - chain approx tensioned, but will as always "bed in" on first use. Will the reduction in wheelbase with the axle in the forward position make a real difference? thanks 98 links chain shortened - ends up to front of slot
It will not make any difference to your "feel" of the bike whether the axle is at the front or the rear of the swing arm slots. I doubt even Rossi would notice any difference either !
I had exactly the same worries when I did mine...but it's absolutely fine https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/new-chain-and-sprockets.66622/
