Hi, Is there a difference between the Carb engine and the injection engine (apart from the obvious) ? I have an SS ie frame (and many, many bits) plus a carby engine and was wondering if it was simply a case of fitting all the injection bits to the carby engine or is there anything i should know? Cheers Col.
Injection wont work on carb motor. Crank sensors and a lot of electrics are different. @Lucazade built a hybrid motor.
Cheers, didn't think it was going to be so simple. The hybird was my next move, prefer the carby engine for its low down grunt but like the looks of ie better.
Biggest difference is the crank and alternator stator which is quite different on the i.e. Easiest way to convert a carb SS to injection would be to use the alternator cover and pickups off a 907ie but you'd need to use the ECU and injection loom from the 907 as well.
If you want the feel of the carb motor converting to FI will probably loose that. Stick it in the frame with Carbs and bobs your uncle .
