900ss "light As Possible" Project. Anyone Got Rid Of Original Headlight?

  1. As per the title really, I'm back on the case with my "light as possible" 900ss project & I was wondering how much weight I could save by ditching the OE headlight & possibly the instruments? I'd fit a race nose cone with no hole for the headlight (I like the 888 race look ...) & source a small LED light to fit below the cone to keep the MoT inspector happy.

    Anyone done this? Thoughts?

BTW, this will be a pampered toy which I do not plan to ride at night so I'm not overly concerned about any new lights ability to light up the road.

    TIA

  2. why not just do a "daytime MOT "set up?

  3. I smiled at the idea of “light as possible” on a 900ss. A lot is possble without massive cost. We headed down this route with the 900 SSie track bike over time. From a basically standard bike with it’s headlight taped up to a track focused thing running total loss ignition having shed around 1/4 of it’s original wet weight.
