was looking on ebay at 998 fairings to get a price for the set I am about to sell (brand new, unused, unpainted track-day fairings, to be posted in the for sale section in next few days), and I noticed that many sellers are trying to sell 916/996 fairings as suitable for 998, yet they have the large vent/cut-out in the top side panels. do the 916/996 fairings fit the 998, and vice-versa? cheers, Pete
I found that the CRC 998 track fairings were too narrow for my 748 and ending up rubbing on the water pump housing. The 996 changed from 2 piece to slab side late on without any change to the engine and frame so in theory you could expect them to be interchangeable. You do see a number of 916/748/996 track bikes with slab sided fairings so clearly some do. Hope that helps. Andy
A quick look at google images will give you your answer, manny newer model 748's and 996's have the same slab sided fairing as the 998. Steve
The vented panels won't fit a 998 though, I think it's the coils that get in the way as they were moved outboard.
