916 ECU / EPROM question

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by JimDane, Jul 6, 2012.

  1. I have a trackday 916 with Termognoni slip-on open mufflers and foam airfilter in the airbox (filters removed in the intakes) and I discovered that the ECU was untouched and had the original EPROM in it.

The engine had some issues on the track with backfiring when I dropped the gas going into curves and I am trying to find an EPROM that will work better for the bike.

    The ECU looks like this:

And the EPROM looks like this:

I have tried two different EPROM's already and none of them worked, the fuel pump didn't run and the bike wouldn't start.

Any hints on the pics to what kind of EPROM I should be hunting for?

    tnx

  2. Are you certain you incerted the eprom correctly?
Fuel pump not working is typical behaviour if inserted back to front or bent leg.

  3. Don't know where you are geographically Jim, but if you're anywhere near Bristol, then I'd recommend you took the bike to Chris @ CJS Racing. He did a custom map for each cylinder separately on my 916SPS and it totally transformed the bike.

  4. I found a Senna 062 chip that works, can't wait to get on the track friday to see how it runs now.

  5. Chips are a waste of space, as are the filter you are using. custom map via pc111 or custom eprom via chris at CJS.

  6. Perfect fit, the 062 Senna chip worked without any issues and the bike now has improved throttle response, faster overall and no backfires.
