if anyone has one lying around, that would be great. No rush for it, but I'm just putting it out there so that should you come across one on your travels jut give me a heads up. Nothing on the bay other than from abroad and I really don't want the hassle of trying to register and get a uk plate on it. The only other thing out there at the moment is a 748 frame and v5, but I'd quite like the bigger capacity showing on the V5 if possible.
V. sad - I'd like to take that one over but no time or money 916 strada with Cagiva graphics comes a very close second early 900 SS MHR
this is all that's on the bay at the moment.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ducati-7...537783?hash=item2aedc1f4f7:g:~tcAAOSwmAJfHdBE Frame prices have gone a bit mental now. I paid £916 for a strada frame, and looking at the MOT history online I think the MOT tester had his eyeballs painted on, as it was consistently showing km, with the previous to last being at 22,000km, and then all of a sudden the year after was down as 35,000 miles. I get the suspicion that a clock swap happened so bugger knows what the real mileage is. 748 frames are on the up as well, and as we all know, the subframes have gone mental. Lucky that I'm not building mine for the purists
Thanks for sharing. I had seen that frame on eBay but it’s a 748. I have a 955 engine that I would like to start a rebuild but would like the 916 frame to fit it in. No rush so happy for one. I have seen a few with a. Similar issue on the mileage.
Mileage provenance will be a big issue for many, and that's before you then try to hunt down a speedometer which is the correct or near as dammit mileage to match the MOT figures - they're starting to become thin on the ground now as well if you want the ones without the CEV logo on them, and are commanding silly money.
Luckily my old man is a part hoarder and has a few clocks that should do the job. I could probably open a spare parts shop with the amount of parts he has. Just lacking in an 916 frame. With have a complete 916 each but want a frame to finish the 955 project. Also building an 853, as with a few 748 frames. A bit old hat, but defo a bike that Ducati should have made back then!
