916 916 Fuel Pump Not Priming

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by aj12, Aug 8, 2019.

  1. Hi Guys, Can people offer some suggestions.

My 916 fuel pump isn't priming. Pump does work as this has been tested. Fuel pump relay has been changed for a new one.

Fuses and relay under the seat are not broken and clicking noise once ignition ON.

There is no side stand switch. The fuel level sensor seems to be a bit temperamental - not sure if this would effect anything.

What are the most common and first things to check other than the above?

    thanks

  2. Could be several things but if you are getting an audible 'click' at fuel pump relay when ignition switched on, and you say fuel pump is fine then has to be connector or fault in wire linking the two. The 1000DS is renowned for wire breaking as it passes through the fuel pump body, there's a fair chance it's the same problem here.

  3. When did the bike last run?

  4. Check eprom chip in ecu

  5. We had similar issue on here a few months ago which was a damaged wire from the pump relay to the fuel pump, do you have a metre? Also P8 or 1.6 ecu? If the pump works and the relay (both relays for the 1.6M) are working there is not much to test apart from voltage on the fuel pump relay switched supply (pins 87) or pump connector (pin 1) the wire between them is shown as brown/white to the fuel pump 4 way connector.
