I need to get a Paddock stand for my 916 just for this general restoration project. Any advice on what to buy? Any that you use that you recomend or any that I should stay away from? Thanks
Hi I'm after a good paddock stand for an 899. I have an ABBA stand which has been great on all my other bikes but requires the removal of fairing for the 899. I want to get some solid and well built - I've had cheap paddock stands in the past and it's not nice watching the bike wobble around on them. Liam
I'm selling my lovely Harris stainless stand, perfect for your 916! Have a look in the parts for sale section of the forum.
Couldnt have been without my Abba when restoring the 916. But for everyday i use the DP one. Same as 848 too if one comes up second hand.
Go for a Gubellini paddock stand by far the best and strongest. These were also supplied to Ducati for them to sell as Ducati Performance items. Each one has a serial number for quality control.
Ian, it is a pity you are so far away as I have a genuine Ducati stand which I never got around to selling after I parted with my 748 last year - highly recommended as it has quality bearings and is very stable.
You could try a (freight) carrier as opposed to something like the Post Office, you might be surprised. I have had things like engines and whole bikes delivered, twice from Scotland in one instance, for really decent money. I paid £60 for an engine and £115 for a whole race bike with spares including an engine and a frame. I couldn't get there and back for that sort of money in terms of petrol costs alone, let alone the time it would have taken.
