  1. Hi
    I've just bought my 1st Ducati,a 1996 916
Only slight problem is its in bits and I wasn't the person who took it apart!
I've managed to get the front forks ,brakes and wheel on,rear sub frame, ecu on.the swing arm is still complete

The engine bottom end has been rebuilt I've purchased new belts and have to put the barrels and heads and clutch back together
I was wondering get if anyone has some clear close up photos with the fairings off,and a workshop manual download ,as theres a lot parts inc the loom I'm going to struggle to refit
    Cheers
    Matt

  4. One of the hardest parts to get right is the wiring loom, it needs to be fitted correctly as you will not get the ancillary electrics to line up and plug in. Get hold of a manual otherwise you may find it hard to impossible without it. Very useful for torque settings as well.

The very first Ducati I rebuilt from scratch a long time ago took me 6 hours!!! to put the loom in place. It was entirely my fault as I had not taken enough photos before I had pulled it apart and did not use a manual to start off with so I had no reference point, lesson learnt especially if you don't know your way around these bikes.

  5. Great
Thanks for the pictures and the links
Should I put the engine together belts covers etc and put it into the frame before the loom and add all the other parts afterwards
Or are there any parts that are better to get in place before the engine goes in?

  6. IME yeah I'd get the engine complete, covers etc. and get it in the frame before the loom, electrics etc. As has been said get a manual to make sense of cable routing.

  7. Rear swing arm must go on before the engine and I think the engine won't go in with the throttle bodies fitted, put them on afterwards.

  8. I have an album on here for my 748SPS rebuild, it might help.

As mentioned rear suspension first then engine and then route loom, but use the manual as it has several cable routing diagrams

  9. Well made a start on it today, just bolted a few bits on
Already found a few bit duplicated and some bits missing
Looks like im going to need a rev counter housing and a temp gauge
Also a front mudguard as the one ive got with it only has 1 mounting hole at the front and 1 at the rear not 2 at the front as in the pics ive seen online ,its the right colour though !
