I have bought some metal quick release connector for the fuel pump base but they don't fit. On inspection the thread in the base is a parallel thread and the thread on the connector is a 1/4 BSPT. The spec on the torque data lists it as a 1/4 NPT but after contacting the seller of the connectors, they say they have sold many of these fittings with no come backs or issues. Do I need 1/4 NPT, if so, where can I get them in the metal type?
Does anyone know, or would I be better off asking what Nicola Sturgeon had for lunch, about the Ducati I spotted on the way to the shops or how the best way to financially support feckless families?
Try Tom Parker, they do lots of the CPC Quick connect fittings Tom Parker Ltd, Preston > CPC Plastic & Brass Couplings > Acetal > CPC Fuel Line Couplings
Yes Tom Parker sell them, you need the NPT threads with Viton 'O' rings - particularly the internal 'O' rings in the female fitting - because the non-Viton rings swell on contact with fuel, now if that happens to the external 'O' ring on the male connector you simply fit a new one (you need to change them occasionally anyway as they can get damaged after a few disconnects/connects). But if the internal ring goes on the female fitting it can block the fuel flow whilst you're riding which can leave you stranded at the roadside for an hour & a half whilst waiting for the recovery van whose driver didn't understand simple directions :Banghead: And whilst the 'O' ring is easy to change on the female fitting, you need to remove it from the tank first so best get it right before you fit it as fitting in the tank can be tricky due to the tight, tapered thread and the need to set the fitting in the correct position to operate the release catch. Part numbers are; CPC - LCD10004V = Metal female fitting 1/4 NPT with viton seal CPC - LCD23006V = Metal male fitting with viton seal N.B. the 'V' suffix denotes Viton, if they don't have the Viton part (quite likely) then get the non-Viton part and buy some spare Viton 'O' rings, they're cheap enough (certainly less than Ducati) and swap them yourself, in fact get a few spares for the male fitting anyway because you'll need them in the future.
