Hi Just turned the ignition on for my 996 and there is a buzzing noise from under the tank which lasts about 1 or 2 seconds. I tried it 3 or 4 times and it keeps doing it then stops. Electrics seem OK as lights, etc are working. She seemed fine before I put her away on Sunday. I did give her a wash before putting her away and only had the engine running after for around 1 minute putting her back in the garage. I have not tried starting her yet. Any ideas?
Phew. These Ducati's are a source of worry to the newbie! Thanks Steve. I can put the whiskey away again. I'm sure it didn't do it in the bike shop last week, is it 'cos she has not been started since Sunday?
No, you probably got that excited you didn't notice it, it should do it every time you turn the ignition on. Steve
Its the tank off which is held on by one bolt and two fuel quick connectors and an electrical plug, turn the tank over for access and the nut is a straight swap, the tricky bit is the electrics, the pins have to be removed to get the plug through the nut, this link shows how to do it http://ducatiforum.co.uk/forum/attachments/connector-pin-removal-pdf.21885/ Steve
mmmm looks quite high on the old Tricky scale ........... I'd get someone who knows what they sound like to have a listen first before you start whipping the tank off, could be perfectly normal
