996 Idles (just)... But Will Not Rev!

  1. After breaking down the other night (recovered after a 4 hour wait.. see other thread), am about try and find the problem.. any help, guidance would be appreciated!

The engine will start just about but the slightest touch of throttle and it just dies, occasionally it would rev to a couple of thousand rpm but will not even do that now.

Thinking it might be a fuel problem, the short whizzing noise that the fuel pump makes when switched on sounds a little different (could be just in my head). Looking into the tank I can just about see a tiny bit of bubbling/spray as the fuel pump turns over... possible hose leak?

I did replace the fuel filter a couple of months ago so don't think it is that, but could be a hose not connected properly, although I was quite thorough!

Don't think it is electrical, replaced the regulator about a month ago and was working fine!

  2. Fixed!!!! Simple fuel pipe had come off!!! How I have no idea! The pipe to the fuel filter but not at the filter end!

    Cheap fix at least!
