The rev counter on my 996 SPS, is reading too high. Its okay on tickover, but at high revs it can go past 13k and off the end of the scale. It's not erratic either, consistently showing a far higher reading than the actual. I have noticed it getting gradually worse tho The bike runs fine otherwise. Anybody experienced this one before?
turns out there is a trim pot you can access through a little hole in the back of the rev counter in order to calibrate. I wound it back a smidgen and now the rev counter seems to be showing a much more realistic reading throughout the range. the power of the Internet eh? Ill have to take it in to have it accurately calibrated. Don't won't to miss out on any of that lush SPS top end rush, conversely dont want to over rev either
An instrument specialist might be able to help also, they have test equipment to check the reading. I had this done after a dial swap some years ago.
