Looks like someone added a one-way diode to prevent backfeed for some reason. The stripe on the one end indicates the direction of flow for the electricity. I have to use them often making harnesses for classic cars from scratch when things like a Holley ECU, PDM, and PWMs are all involved. Not sure why it would be on the bike, but that install makes me cringe.
Robbed this from Google AI to save me typing. A diode on a motorcycle sidestand switch circuit prevents backfeeding of current, typically to the starter relay or neutral switch, when the sidestand is down. This is done to prevent unintended starting or running issues when the sidestand is down and the bike is in neutral or the clutch is pulled in. The diode allows current to flow only in one direction, preventing the sidestand switch from affecting the neutral indicator light or starter circuit when it should not Agree the fitment looks shite.
Been discussed before https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/whats-this-resistor-diode-for-in-the-starter-circuit.54913/
Thanks. It was wrapped up but I took apart to investigate what it was. It’s had the side stand switch bypassed so makes sense.
