996s Usual Not Starting Problem Or Alarm?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by fieldy, Jun 9, 2015.

  1. Hello,
    Been watching for many years.
I have had look at previous threads but not 100% sure found the problem.
Bike not been start for about 2 months no problems then. Bike is always on a battery tender and fully charged.
Went to start today and I am getting a clicking noise from the little black relay (19 on circuit diagram) next to the larger yellow relay near the battery also the two relays under the seat clicking and the meta alarm box is clicking.
Vdc at battery 12.72 and goes down to 12.68 when ignition is switch on. No fuel pump, pulled out all relays and checked the pins all dry and clean, disconnected the large wire connectors on the right hand side of frame under seat and these are again dry and clean.
The alarm is the only thing I cannot test / check. It self arms the immobiliser part and I can disarm and heard the beep. I suspect this but pulling out might cause more problems as I do not have wiring details and its been put in very neatly and tight.
Any one know if there is an way of checking alarm, is there an internal battery inside ?
    Cheers and thanks
    Mark

  2. Can you put the alarm into service mode?Anyway, mine had an alarm. It started playing up,so now I havent got an alarm!I removed mine myself and I dont work for NASA.

  3. Does not appear to be a service mode.
Anyway I stripped the loom back and removed the connections to the immobiliser part and it started. I then reconnected the alarm and it works now as it should, But going to remove completely at the weekend can't risk failing while out and about.
    Cheers

  4. Best thing to do, I think.
