  1. Looking for some advice on suspension set up on on a 996SPS. Ohlins rear & Showa Forks.

I went out on mine for the first time today, AWESOME:biggrin: but its been set up for a 16 Stone bloke + gear and was drifting & stepping out all over the place.

What best set up I'm 11 1/2 Stone + gear. I know its easy to adjust but im trying to save time by seeing if anyone has the same setup that would suit me.

    Cheers

  2. For the cost involved your better taking it to someone who knows what there doing.its well worth the money.

  3. start with the help of a mate setting the sag rate. set it so when your sitting on the bike your using about a third of the travel.plenty of on line info available. this will also let you know if you need to change the springs.

  4. As already stated, best option is to send it off to someone to set it correctly for you. I sent my 996SPS suspension to K-Tech stating my action man size weight of 9 stone and that it was track use only really and it came back awesome. Even nice and compliant on the road for the few miles i chance it.
I guess it all depends on how good you want it. I'm just too tiny for any of my settings to be much use. Basically though, you'd want about 25-30mm front sag, about 10mm on the rear, and the damping play with in big steps, 4-6 clicks at a time. Get it somewhere between too much damping so it's choppy, and too little so it weaves and wallows about. Then fine tune. I wouldn't do 1 click at a time until you notice a change from too hard to too soft or vice versa.

  5. Thanks all for the advice.

An hour or so tinkering this morning & out for a play then.

I can't believe i have waited so long to buy one of these, it is most certainly the best bike i have had the pleasure of riding.
