Have found a 2002 998 biposta that's been imported from Germany with around 19k miles on it. It is sporting 998s (deep sump) fairing, but seller is a bit vauge about if its a deep sump engine. No history but belts alledly change 18 months ago in fatherland, but all paperwork lost for bike. Looks very clean, nice carbon exhausts but very nervous about lack of history & being import. Other than factoring in £500 ++ for full service, what other things do I really need to checkout on 998 ? Price is,reasonable at £6750 ?! & it's Yellow !!!
I 'might' have a yellow one for sale soon - UK bike, 6000 ish miles, Full S Spec Engine Kit fitted from new (to shallow sump engine) 998's are supposed to be Yellow btw But mine will be a bit more than that that and has lots of yummie bits to be replaced back to standard before I sell, mag wheels, slipper clutch, Full Termi 50mm System, Carbon Fairing, rear sets - all original standard parts ready to swap before sale - including original bubble wrapped from new fairing
IMO, walk away, no history, uncertain pedigree, less than open seller, plus I’d budget nearer £1k for a full service. A waste of your time and money. Andy
What price piece of mind ? 8 maybe 10 hours labour if shims require changing. Probably cheaper if you use a trusted independant but that’s not always practicable. Andy
I have managed to save up (hide !) at little money & it's burning a hole in my pocket. Should really save some more & find decent UK bike in the faster/cheaper yellow.
