  1. Hi one and all, I am trying to refit the long air box seal to my 998 (the one that seals to the fuel tank) Ive tried lubeing her up to get the little locating posts through the holes but no joy:mad: there were a couple of posts missing before I started so I don't want to damage it any more. Anyone got any bright ideas ? cant belive fitting the cam belts took less time than Ive wasted on this poxy seal.

  2. pull em through with a pair of pliers

  3. ....until they pull off. Drill the holes slightly bigger and use silicone spray.

  4. I use silicon spray and pliers, if the seal is new it shouldn't be a problem. If it's not, and it sounds like it, then they are likely to pull off. They are really tricky to get in.

You could try easing them in with something that is not sharp but a little pointed from the top, that worked for me as well. I used an ABS filler rod for plastic welding

    Good luck!!

  5. end of a stiff cable tie and silicon spray works well and won't damage air box

  6. I assume that you are putting the seal on before installing the airbox onto the bike?
    Just checking...

  7. Tried some wd40 and pulling em in with pliers and yea as you say the ends just pull off (its not a new seal) I think enlarging the holes by 1mm is gonna be the best option ,thanks guys.

  8. After drilling the holes out with a 6.5mm drill bit it went straight on and seams secure, problem solved. I just need to find some mirror securing clips now as I've lost mine.
