998 Alternator Cover & Gubbings...

  1. now that I've got the bike in near mint condition on the outside, decided it was time to refreshen the paintwork on the alternator cover, change all the coolant hoses & jubilee clips and all the other odds and sods around that area...
Removed all the coolant hoses, temperature sender wires and cleaned them all up. I also pulled the cover off and began removing all the paint ready for priming tomorrow.
Just wanted to ask a few questions before I start reassembling next week.

I didn't remove the water pump cover. So looking at the keyed shaft that drives the pump, what's the best way to ensure the slot lines up with the pump shaft. Remove the water pump cover and spin it til it engages?
The crank position sensor still has 2 spacers fitted but I read somewhere (I think) that it's best to remove 1??? Also, does the inner O ring for the CPS need changing?
Does the outer seal for the gear change shaft need changing?
Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I have all the bits at hand before reassembly.

    Thanks, Ian.
