998 Problems

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Kevin Brailsford, Jul 1, 2019.

  1. My 52 plate 998 won't start.
I had it detailed last month but it wont start.
    Turn key on....
    No fuel pump priming
    No neutral light.
But will turn over but not fire up.
Changed fuel pump relay, full battery charge, checked all fuses and all wire tigt and no corrosion.
    Any ideas would be great.

  2. Clutch switch
    Sidestand switch
    Neutral switch

  3. Like FE mentions, no neutral light will cause problems as it's part of the sidestand interlock. Check the connection at the back of the motor on the RHS.

  4. Will have a look when home tonight

  5. Yes, the ECU will think it is in gear so the starter won't operate unless the clutch is pulled in but it shouldn't stop the fuel pump from running. The sidestand switch on the other hand will cut the ignition and hence probably the fuel pump if the side stand is down and a gear is selected. So a faulty neutral switch and the side stand down will produce these symptoms. Try again with the side stand up and the clutch lever held to the bar.
