998s Airbox Removal

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by efcbluepete, Oct 28, 2017.

  1. Hi all,

Finally getting round to getting the meta 357 disabled, and as ever the easy way doesn't work!

Got it cranking, but no sign of fuel pump priming. The short at 4-5 does nothing. So tracing the loom back to fix properly but can't get the airbox off to access the wiring connections under there. The injectors is where I'm struggling.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Pete

  2. Pete, have you done the correct pin out for the Meta, there are different ones for the 357T and 357TV2 and neither have a short on pins 4 and 5? Otherwise are you stripping the entire system out of the loom?

  3. Hi Denzil,

Downloaded the installation instructions for the 357 v2, and checked the paperwork which says 357 v2.

Instructions show the fuel pump supply cut, fed into 4 through a normally open relay to pin 5. Shorting these gave no change.

Shorting the white 2 pin plug got it cranking.

  4. Pete, you have a pm. The alarm has internal relays which may interfere. Usually the fuel pump/ecu has a splice on the switching side of the relays just forward of the front rhs of the seat but there is another circuit IIRC which isolates power close to the fuse box/feed to the rh handlebar switchgear. You need power to the pump and the pump relay. I sent the pin out to override the alarm/immob

  5. If you still need to undo the injector connectors, Pete. There’s a steel clip right at the end of the connector with a hook on the end. Carefully pull the bottom leg bit back with a small flat blade screwdriver. If you’re removing the complete Airbox, don’t forget to grease up the O rings inside the bodies. Expensive do replacing them at a tenner per one. :-(
