Hi All, Got the 999, came with stock ECU installed. person I got it from had termi 1/2 system installed. The bike came with a race ECU. What's the race ECU premapped to? any advantage of replacing my stock ECU with the Race one? Or would I have to have it remapped... additional costs... not worth it at this point? Thanks for any suggestions.
If you have the Termi I would fit the race ecu now, 10 minute job. The only thing you need to do after that is get the tps reset. Should make the bike more lively. If anyone near you has Ducatidiag they can reset the TPS for you or buy the cables and diy.
On my 900SS before putting on the power commander i put remus open pipes and open box airfilter. Anything I should do with airbox on the 999? or just the termis are fine to put the race ecu on? In regards to resetting the TPS... I'll do some googling... are these cables expensive? Anyone around has them could help out? (or is it not necessary?) I'm in Reading.
DP freeflow air filters is all you can do afaik. If you've got pipe and ecu, the filters in there might be DP, it came as a kit. The DP ones have a brassy look mesh on them. there's a set or 2 on here for sale and a set on ebay as well, look at the pic and compare. they're difficult to distinguish until you've seen both types. If you go to the back door of a duc dealer a tec might reset the tps for a drink.
so.. talked to a local Ducati shop in London. He mentioned that if it's the ECU that came with the Termis and filter, and i've installed the termis and filter, than I might not have to reset the TPS, he advised to swap the ECU to the DP race one and ride the bike and see how it behaves and if it runs rich or lean.
The Termi does away with the cats that are in the standard exhaust. The bike runs MUCH cooler than with the standard can. The race ecu will alter the fuelling to compensate for this. Sometimes the tps is ok other times it is miles out. Just fit the ecu ( remember the earth lead on one of the bolts and don't force the cams ) and run the bike , it may be fine. Personally I would not bother with the air filter if you are not sure, they do not look vastly different as far as I can remember and you will probably have to remove the nose cone to get the tubes out, I think. ( Its been a while since I had mine so cannot remember details ) I am in Northumberland so I cannot help you but maybe someone is nearer. The cables are only a few quid, check this out. You will have to register but it's free, tells you everything you need to know and where to get things from. ducatidiag :: Connexion
Thanks. Think ill just run the bike as it is for the time being.. sounds like the race ecu may not do much noticable changes anyways expecially for road use (not going to track..) and may add more fuel causing worse fuel economy.. any reason to switch it then?
