I have been having problems with low battery voltage over the past week or so and after inspection found that the cables from the Rectifier had very badly corroded, nearly caught fire it would appear and had actually broken across 2 of the phases! Great I thought, after cutting and crimping new connectors to the 3 No. cables I hoped all would be well. When running the bike is not charging at the desired 13-13.5 volts...Far from it. I can only assume that in the past couple of weeks, whilst not distributing voltage correctly due to the broken wires the Rectifier has cooked itself. My question is has anyone tried out the M&P type replacement's that can be found on ebay for roughly £55? If anyone has any experience of these I would be greatly appreciative! Many thanks Matt
I did try an ebay cheapie, (not M&P) and it got bloody hot! I sent it back. Best bet is to upgrade to a mosfet type. Read here; The upgrade fix >> no more charging/regulator/rectifier problems - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum
That's a very interesting read indeed. Im looking into this as we speak! So it would appear that a Yamaha R1 Rectifier might be the ticket.....
