Mine has snapped the bracket that holds the exhaust on. The bike is way out of warranty but do we know if Ducati are still replacing these as a known fault? I cant contact DUK as they must not have telephones!! and I hate those online forms.
think they do still sort it out from memory. I think it's a known issue. I've got one in the cellar you can borrow if your bike is off the road. This one def won't break - NCR titanium : ) Even Sharpy doesn't have one of these!
Thanks Jerry but I'd be scared of damaging your NCR one, I am at Cadwell at the end of the month so if DUK have not sorted it within the next week or so (Which I cant see happening) I'll have to get it ally welded in the interim. Its so clear that the single mounting point is just not enought to carry the weight of the exhaust. My only dodge is the bike was a bip from the factory so they may well tell me where to go!.. Thing is even though its been converted its still a Ducati subframe
honestly, this thing will survive the end of the world. It's very tough and not entirely pretty. By all means use it if the alternative is to miss a TD.
Cheers Jerry, I'll let you know. Im just glad its happend now rather than 1st session of a 2 dayer at Cadwell.. You know me and my bodges though it would not have ruined my fun
Just get it welded. 40-50 quid job plus paint/ powdercoat. Mine snapped last year above the seat mounting tabs and ive not trusted it since. To be honest, once you have it welded it will prob be stronger than it was when new!
This is the offending item This bit is not only cracked but has bent itself in to a lower position Spoke to Ducati Manchester the nice man told me to email him some snaps (no pun intended) and he'll forward to DUK The tempory bodge!
Oh eck! Dont use it like that. Get it off to a welder/fabricator who can make up a new triangle and weld it up.
Whats wrong with you man it'll do the job till DUK say either yah or nah and I'll have a new one or get this one welded.
Unless you are using the rubber grommet, the vibrations from the exhaust will be directly transferred to the subframe and they like snapping in half too so its your risk. I wouldnt think Ducati would entertain a claim after you have bodged a bracket and they found additional damage or if the end can ends up on the bonnet of a car but Im happy to be proven wrong. Unless you are only proposing that the bracket is there to hold it in place and not be ridden with which I could understand. Edit: I just read your earlier post... your not planning on doing a track day with it like that are you?
Not really. Im not trying to piss on your bonfire mate but if these things snap while you are riding your going to have a bad day or cause someone else to have one. Safety first. Do you have or can you borrow a BIP subframe for your trackday to get you by? I wouldnt want to borrow the Ti NCR one either - too costly if it isnt yours......
Ok so I'm going back to my '05 999 mono which is a few years ago now, but mine was out of warranty when it went ping on both sides. Ducati sorted it for me no probs ...mine was the grey frame model and they put a nice shiny newer and stronger black one on for me f.o.c. I did the whole online form thingy which, to be honest wasn't a chore and it worked perfectly. As it was my 1st Duke I feared the worst but the customer service was superb.
I've just had mine replaced on my 03 model by Ducati, because the bike was not ducati serviced they charged £150. I got the old one welded and gusseted where it broke and it has been fine as it took a while to get the replacement as it had to be special ordered. Go to your nearest dealer and explain the issue, they should be more than happy to assist. I'll be putting my repaired one in the classifieds pretty soon. Duke
I take it Ducati will only replace free on a defective monoposto not if youve put a mono on a bip ,or do they cover a genuine Ducati part replacing a non mono.
Had mine replaced even though mine left the factory as a bip. And does not have a water tight Ducati service history
