999 999starting Problem

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Matt Guffogg, May 2, 2019.

  1. Just to say to you guys having done some work over the winter the 999 was difficult to start I have done the battery and the regulator as it cooked the battery
Difficult starting was down to the poor negative as others have said
I put a separate 6.mm cable to the engine and started immediately I also crimped the original with 25mm crimping pliers
The stranded cable connection is poor and after it being moved a few times creates a high resistance now starts perfect
    Thanks for the info
I have had this before on my TL 1000 to be fair it was corroded under the frame at the connection looks like a common problem

  2. Is this the negative terminal on the battery connection. Mine is corroded and whilst it starts fine it looks like future trouble. Can you send a picture? Thanks
