I'm currently in the second best restaurant in Leuven according to Trip Advisor. Pick your own cut and weight of steak from the counter. Taste, texture and provenance of each described by the chef. Spanish, French, Belgian, Scottish, English, Irish ... I went for 250g of the Belgian Wit-Blauw cooked medium rare. And when I requested some wine the Sommelier asked what steak I am having and whether I wanted chilled or room temperature. Room temp of course so a Spanish Tempranillo was duly recommended. Lovely!
Sounds fab. Pete1950 will be along shortly with advice on how long it should have rested before you eat it!
I would have asked what Belgian beer he recommended with that rather than wine. I bet it would have been eye-opening.
Why do they not serve the food on the plate was the steak in a bowl or basket. The beer looks very tasty
Please tell me the butter with the bread wasn't foil wrapped Anchor, but was something a bit homemade and noteworthy?
The steak was awesome and accompanied by as much salad and fries as I wanted (one bowl of each was enough for me - but it was all you can eat). The Duval went down well but I like wine with my steak rather than beer ... and medium rare was perfect
Were you too full to eat that tiny little bit of steak you left on your plate? I wouldn't have left that little bit :Wideyed:
Pullman restaurant on the train home from Paddington. Not a patch on the restaurant in Leuven, but not bad for train food!
