A Question Aimed At A Plummer.

  1. I am fitting a shower and the connections are male 1/2nps (not tapered thread parallel)

what do you normally do to seal and tighten them? As they are crying out for a washer of sorts not just ptfe and/or gew?

But would that be a job for a fibre washer?

  3. Yep, as the man says. Good quality broad fibre washer, a good wrap of PTFE & a smear of LSX joint sealant.
Belt & braces as they say, i’ve a bathroom business and can’t risk a leak behind tiles or panelling.
    Have fun.
    Cheers, Doug

  6. ptfe tape clockwise as you look at it.
Plenty of flat wraps(6ish) with some over the shoulder.

  7. And I bet you are/were all named Bob and are/were straight up and down people...

  8. I thought that’s what you do with salt?

  9. Oh I misread this as bummer. I’ll go now, my advice is not needed.

  10. thanks all sorted with washer tape and gunge..

  11. i was going to spell it Plumma..

  12. I’m guessing it’s after the shower valve, so low pressure. I usually use a combination of fibre washer and ptfe on the thread.
