We've been back a couple of weeks now from a week blatting round the French pyranees. Three of us went, me on my hyper 939, a 748 and an old blade. We shipped out with eurobiktrans to rubi (just outside Barcelona) and rode up through Spain and based ourselves on an holiday park just outside perpignan in the South of France. I thought we'd do most of our riding in Spain as we were near the border but the spanish roads and countryside were uninspiring, that didn't matter. The roads, the scenery, the riding and ofcourse the weather was absolutely steller in the French pyranees for the whole week. A full week riding, we covered over a 1000 miles over there, all were pleasure miles. Days averaged between 150 to 200 miles but were painless due it being thrash, coffee, thrash, coffee, hoon and take it as it comes. Ride back down to barcelona on the last day, ship bikes back and fly home on cheap as chips airlines. I'll post pics. Whilst I didn't take a lot of pics, it'll give you an idea of the sights etc.... Most of the time I had either my eyes glued to the road or chucking coffee & ice cream down my neck. Great week that I'd be keen to repeat.
On the d115 that runs to the spanish border and onto to camprodon. At the top, right on the spanish/French border.. Looking into spain....
The coast road is awesome (n260 spanish that becomes d914 French). It runs up into perpignan. The spanish side is super twisty, well surfaced and a pleasure to chuck an hyper at. The surface deteriorated on the French side but was still rideable. If you ride it, it'll have you sweating, but, have an ice cream in portbou to ease the pain ha ha...
