This is quite a thorough test, good range of bikes but not without flaws. The Multi scores well but not with taller riders in ergos, would you believe its because the seat was in low position for their entire trip? honestly........ Still, seems the Multi 'could have' won if they'd of had a higher seat and a fixed fuel sensor, go figure 2015 Ultimate Sports-Adventure-Touring Shootout
How is it even possible? A 160 hp machine that loses more than 14% power crank/wheel? It seems a bit too much to me, especially compared to the 160->156,6 of the XR, 2,1% ?!?!? I think there is something strange here...
Ducati are part of audi who are part of VW.....Who lie about emmissions figures.....why not power figures??? :-(
It is not difficult to reach and pass the 160 hp with the DVT system, I really don't understand why it produces even less power than the older multis, but what really make me think is the torque curve... It's really crappy!! It has a hole in the middle, the most important part! I really hope there is some real issue with that bike.
Yes agree.... it wasn't until my Mrs went pillion on my DVT and said it was like a 2 stroke reminded her of her Rd 350Powervalve lol
I agree but I'm also getting the feeling that the American versions are worse than the UK / European specs but still I don't know as fact. If you look at all dyno curves (mostly ran on American dynos by American journalists) there's a very sharp drop in power and then it kicks back in. Almost as though it's purposefully mapped that way, perhaps to hit the emissions I suspect? I'd love to see a uk bike with a termi and up map ran on a uk dyno to see what that curve looks like, then it's a matter of somebody like cjs or @nelly seeing what they can do I'm fairly confident there's plenty more to be gained but it's just a shitter it's not there as standard
I know what it is, they've altered the software on the BM so it know when it's getting tested and changes the output of the engine. it's German after all cheating barstuards.
As someone commented already on Youtube, the too much BS killed the guy in the yellow jacket. I've got also some nerve symptoms, but I am ok since I am using a wireless keyboard, just had to dig it off behind the couch today morning :Shifty:
Interesting, but I did find some areas a little hard to understand: How could the tall reviewing riders, knowing that the DVT seat was set low and that they didn't have the kit to raise it, make no allowance in their scoring? They generally slated the 1000XR for the extreme vibration ("I would never buy one" commented one) but then gave it winning scores? I'm a little peeved that the US DVT seems to have some issues with it's dyno curves. Also seems very down on power. How would a single spark V twin spark v DVT get on, if tested on Dyno for comparison and then acceleration to say 100mph? My monies on the single spark (but I'm biased).
