I'm self employed, I do removals, man and van etc etc, basically wondering if anyone on here has any knowledge, experience, advice on getting yourself out there, I am not exactly quiet but also not overly busy, has anyone any experience of advertising? What works? What does not work? I do and am trying various ways of advertising, I'm obviously slightly proud (been a man) but totally open to trying new and diverse ways of advertising (fully clothed) appreciate any help.
sign-write the van with your name or snappy slogan/ business name & phone number - good advertising which doesn't cost you every month
first off, don't wait until your quiet, advertise all the time, even when busy. most of my stuff comes from word of mouth, but i did notice it drop off when i stopped advertising a while back. when i tarted advertising the phone picked up again.
I always use Trustatrader when I want something done and haven't used someone before (or used someone shit before).
yip, pretty much everywhere, side of you van, side of your car if poss. local notice boards if you have em, local paper. everywhere.just parking you van somewhere prominent too.

Google adwords are good. Sounds like snake oil but my OH is a self-employed healthcare professional and it works very well for her. She's a right tightwad too, so if it wasn't working she'd have fired them.
