  1. hi
I could do with some electrical advice from a household or industrial sparky if poss..

A couple of weeks ago at a car boot I purchased this stop start switch.. the guy said. Although it had been mounted it had never been wired up as he had lost the wiring diagram..

I could see it had not been wired as the brass screws inside were totally unmarked.

I’ve searched on line for instructions and visited a trade electrical shop for help but nothing ..

My intended use for it is as an on off switch for a table saw.. I’m on a 240 volt system ..

    Help please!

    Many thanks

  2. Dude... these are push to make and push to break.... you need the contactor (a relay) and to wire it with self hold and self hold break.
You've only got half a switch set up.

They are used to stop auto start on power failure...
If the machine is running and the power fails it will stop.... even when the power returns.
    You need to press start.

  3. Hi mte I kinda understand you.. with thanks by the way, half a switch? Do you mean I need another unit to go with this one?
I can’t see how much can be missing from this one as there’s no room in the box for much more?

Sorry for being a bit dumb.. lol x

  4. Aircon has it right IMHO.

We sell something similar but a different make. Red contacts shall (probably) be normally closed and the others normally open. My "guess" is there should be a relay in the saw somewhere. The NO switches will close the relay and also lock the coil. the NO switches shall brake the coil. Would need to see the old gear to advise more. Are the switches latching or momentary (push in and snap back automatically)

  10. I've a constant argument with people who've told me they've been electrocuted*....
No they haven't; especially if they told me so.

*I've received many, many electric shocks (including two at 415VAC), but have yet to be electrocuted.
