Hi, I am changing my chain and rear sprocket on my PP MTS. My bike has only done 5k miles but the 1st owner didn't seem to do much in the way of cleaning the chain/sprocket area and it really lets the bike down. I've done 2k miles since getting the bike and noticed the chain rusting even with lubing. I have ordered a DID 530 108 link chain, the one with x seals. I have also ordered the Renthal sprocket and carrier. I have successfully removed the sprocket and removed the Cush drive bolts. My question is to what torque setting do these get done up to and what lock tight stuff is used on the threads? Thanks in advance for any help.
44 Nm ± 10% in a cross pattern with blue loctite or equivalent. I also dab them with a paint pen so I can see if they move.
Clarkey, you've got the chain on upside down, the writing's the wrong way round on the top run , nice looking chain though.
I did wonder cos if yuk look at the first pic just where the chain exits the plastic chain guard it's the right way up! Do they alternate? At the time I was more worried about flaring the rivet pins correctly and not overdoing it creating a tight spot.
When I've replaced chains before, they've had spacers to place between the plates so that you couldn't over tighten. Roughly how much for chain and sprocket and did you replace the front one as well ?
Ah right, no spacers in the chain kit or chain riveting tool. About 300 quid, I haven't replaced the front sprocket because the sprockets were not worn, could of got away with just the chain but I much prefer the renthal from an aesthetic point. It is also very light and I can change sprockets now more easily.
