Does anyone here have experience with these AIS delete kits that are available for our bikes? I have just fitted one to my 12 month old Desert x, I have the full Termi system and Ducati remap to suit. I fitted the Ais delete kit as per instructions to eliminate the exhaust backfire/popping on up shifting, this is what the ais delete kit is supposed to stop. However after the kit I’m now getting the backfiring still on up shifting but also on deceleration and blipping the throttle from idle. It’s made it worse. What have I done wrong or does it just not work on my bike ? Cheers.
I fitted one to my Supersport with no issues. It stopped the annoying popping and banging on the overrun when the revs dropped below 2,500 rpm. There is still a bang on up shifts but that's due to how the quick shift woks by temporarily cutting the sparks so that unburnt fuel goes in to the exhaust which is immediately ignited by the next exhaust cycle. I do get the occasional pop on the overrun but nothing to be bothered about. Maybe you have a leak in the exhaust system?
What he said above ^^^. If the blanks are correctly fitted and the pipes removed then the backfiring on deceleration is due to air leaks in the exhaust system. Bangs on the upshift are part of the fun
Hey, thanks for the replies, confirms what I was thinking but no air leaks…. Maybe my bike is telling me to stop fiddling and leave well alone Refitting the the AIS
