i'm riding a 848 evo, and i've just bought a pair of akrapovic end cans and i would like to know if i could just fit them myself or would i have to have the bike re'mapped?:smile:
They run ok, if not a little rich, without being chipped...or mine did until I got it custom mapped by CJS
I think Acropovic's sales blurb says they are designed to run on the stock setup..... But a remap would be of benefit with anything fitted.
If you want to try a back to back comparison, then I can loan you an ECU flashed to the '848 EVO DP Slip On' map (321818PUA05). This will have the lambdas disabled as standard but I can also add the exup disabled at the time I flash it. All you have to do is pick up the postage and return the ECU later.
thankyou very much for the offer, its very generous of you.. but that sort of stuff is a bit too technical for me.. i'll prob wait till the bike goes in for a service in march and get ducati to fit them.. thanks again.
The cans have three bolts and two springs to remove and refit, the ecu 2 bolts and two plugs.....it's not that technical.....even I managed it!
what needs to be done....... just plug chrisw;s ecu in then what? sorry but i havent got a clue, im ok on the manual side of things but not the technical.
You should really reset the TPS after fitting it.....but I'm not gonna put you off doing it before you've even started. Trust me it is easy.....and i'm sure ChrisW will help you out if needed. Right Chris?
Nothing....the original ecu should still be fine as its off your bike anyway....but again a TPS reset never goes a miss after fitting a new ecu. But it's not science...honest. It's two cables for lest than 20 quid and a piece of free software for your laptop.
As Anth says, this is not difficult to do. A TPS reset is always a benefit after removal/refit. To test things we should be OK without a TPS reset. Ducatidiag is always worth having and it's free. One of each of those leads in Chris's link and the software from here HitCounter it's the one at the top....it's ok you select English when you install it. Register on the Ducatidiag forum ( http://ducatidiag.xooit.com/index.php ) and have a read....in the international section for English.
Follow the link posted by Anth for the software. The 2 sellers on eBay are reliable (I have no connection to them). When you have your leads let me know and I will advise you and also issue you a licence.
chris where would i buy the lead for the 1098s which is 4 pin. and what do i ask for.its to go from the ducati 4 pin to the 9pin d type....or an adaptor fron ducati 4 pin to 3 pin.
The two leads Chris has posted the links to are all you need to connect the 1098s io connector to the USB port of the laptop for Ducatidiag.
