1200 DVT Alarm For Multi?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by jimjam39, Sep 20, 2015.

  1. Hi all. Picking up a new Dvt next Saturday and just thinking about security. Last 3 bikes have been triumphs with datatool alarms on and never had any issues. Any alarms recommend for these bikes?

  2. Ducati do an alarm, but so far stock has not materilised at my dealer

  3. I have a duke alarm on my 899 and every official page I've seen selling them shows one identical so perhaps it's a generic alarm and probably all Dukes have the same connection on their wiring harnesses?

  4. Hi, I did order Ducati Oem alarm at the same time when i did order the bike, it was in early december 2014 still i havent got it.

  5. That looks like the Ducati oem off the list then. Will have to look at other options.

  6. Datatool tracker or TrakKING are category 6 thatcham jobbies. Meaning they are trackers & authenticated for some sort of menial insurance discount. Both have an annual subscription of £99.

  7. Tried to get the Ducati one when I was ordering my bike, however the one listed on the Ducati accessories site is from older models and doesn't fit in the DVT.
One alternative that comes with tracking is the Scoprio alarm. On the other hand if you have an insurance all you need to do is comply with the theft insurance requirements e.g. mine has a list of compliant locking mechanisms that I should use.
If you'd like to avoid the hassle just try keep your bike within your sight as much as possible and I'd assume most of the folks own a garage for locking it up over the winter,

  8. Yet another owner who ordered the Ducati alarm when buying the bike, and still hasn't hear a peep about whether or when it might actually turn up. Not good when your "garage" is the footpath in front of your apartment building.

My dealer also sells a generic jobbie, which I'm going to ask for more information about.

I'd prefer the OEM alarm, because it patches into the CANBUS, so gets all the system data, like lean angle, suspension movement etc, but a basic thing that you actually have is a lot more useful than the ideal item that may or may not ever turn up.

  9. Thanks guys, will have a look at all the aforementioned items.

  10. Get a tracker to reduce instance premiums and an alarmed chain/disc-lock together with laser marking stickers to deter thieves. Road Angel is good as you can remotely check your battery's voltage.

I've had Datatool on Triumphs and they're good if you do go down that route because they make a helluva racket and flash your indicators. Can be a pain in windy locations though. Leave a fob with neighbours if you're away!!
