Again, you just wriggle/pull it off, it could be that the pump body is rusty so the massive surface area will make it appear to be glued, it has locating flanges that make it harder to remove but maybe warming up somehow might help.

If the relay is hotter than normal Martin, it might be an indication that more current is flowing is flowing through it, although I can't come up with any reason why that might be. Once the contacts are latched into position, there could possibly be more current flowing across the contacts as maybe the new pump is tight and consequently the motor needs to work harder resulting in more current flow. Give it a little while and it might ease up as the pump beds in.
