I invented something a couple of evenings ago (in my brain only, unfortunately). I was thinking it would be cool to fix my iPhone to my bike to take HD videos of some interesting routes. I thought that this could be achieved with a bracket that would clip to the top of the fairing (sports bike here folks, not Mutley). The bracket would be made of plastic with 2 strong rubber-lined spring-loaded "crocodile" clips. They would be joined to a short plastic arm which would run parallel to the top of the fairing. A perpendicular U-shaped bracket to hold the iPhone would be attached to this via a stiff ball joint (or other, which would make the iPhone adjustable in an at least the up and down plane). You'd clip another U-shaped piece over the top of the iPhone to hold it in place and stop it jumping out. It all seems incredibly simple, but haven't seen one on the market. Questions: would you get a good bit of film, or do you absolutely have to have a GoPro? If you have a sufficiently rubber-mounted crocodile clip, could you avoid massive vibration jiggling the camera? Anyone any good at making a thing like this? (or even drawing it - I'm rubbish at that).
what something like this... Mini Adjustable Tripod for Apple iPhone 3G / 3GS / 4: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics you'd only have to worry about an AV mount then as the mount can come off the tripod. would it sit behind the screen or in the freestream air? You'd probably want to mount it more securely that clips if its in the freestream as you really don't want wind ripping it off the fairing.
