Another Silly Question... Front Fairing Bolt.

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Carl Hauxwell, Feb 4, 2022.

  1. OK, so the fairing bolt, under the headlight at the front won't come out. It is stuck, although it turns, it isn't coming out. Left side.

Any suggestions on removing it? The thread or the bolt has blown I'd imagine. I can't cut it due to the angle and the delicate nature of the fairing. I tried levering with a screwdriver head but no joy.

Fortunately I can still access the battery.... so if it stay in no biggie. But this sort of thing irritates me as I might need to remove it later.

  2. What bike?

  3. 1198?
Do you mean one of the two bolts that are below the headlight horizontally?
These go into rubber wellnuts. If it is spinning then the nut may have come detached from the rubber. A real PIA to get off as you need to trap the nut with some locking pliers from the back.
Good practice to copper slip or Vaseline bolts into wellnuts to prevent this.
