Anybody After A Sat Nav Mount For A 950/935 Supersport?

  1. Well I am. And found this.

Looks good. Only fly in the ointment is that thanks to you-know-what, the German company concerned will only accept orders over €136.

So does anybody else fancy one? I'm willing to buy 2 if somebody else has the other.

    PM me, please.

    Cheers

  2. Nobody?

  3. I use one of these on my Supersport, replacing one of the handlebar fixing bolts. They are available in M10 but the internal hex is smaller than standard. Much cheapness :)

  4. Thank you very much for this, Derek. Just sending off for one now - M10 as you have stated. Could you post a pic of how you've got it set up? And is there a likely source of 12V nearby?

    Very useful Thanks again. :upyeah:

  5. Glad to help. If you look behind the steering head at the RH side, tucked under the front of the tank you will fine a small white connector like these with a pigtail on it.

There are actually another 2 located more centrally that are for the heated grips but they have caps on them, not pigtails.
If you separate the connecter halves you will be able peel back the insulation covering the ends to solder wires on to them for your sat nav device. Watch out though, the pigtail wires are both black. You will need to refer back to the loom side of the connector to get the polarity. The +ve is red/black and the -ve is black. The socket is ignition switched so goes off with the key.
I'll try to get you a picture later.

  6. I've been bit unwell for the past 6 days or so, not Covid fortunately, and didn't really feel like going out to the garage. However I went out this morning and took these.
The RAM ball in place, the wire is tucked does behind the clutch cable:

The TomTom mount fitted. You can see the connector just at the bottom right of the mount :

    The TomTom installed:

The Satnav looks huge in that picture but in reality it doesn't obscure the screen at all.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  7. The UA ball looks like a good solution to something I'm working on at the moment that's not Bike related.

Can you tell me if the metal spacer/sleeve is Stainless, or plated steel?
If not, is it easily removeable from the ball part so I can make my own in Stainless.

    Thanks

  8. It's not stainless. Either an alloy or plated steel. I'd need to check and I doubt if it is easily removable. I suspect that the ball is moulded on to it.

  9. Great....mount arrived on Monday morning...
all I need now is the bike....supposed to be ready for Friday or Saturday. :):upyeah:

I've got a Tomtom as well....doesn't take you down "interesting" byways like my riding mate's Zumo...the less said about that the better!

That switched feed is the way to go. Unless I stick a Powerhub in it, but don't know if there's enough room under the seat....

Anyway, thanks again for this Derek, and hope you continue to feel better.

    Cheers
