What does it look like ? I've got a pair of coils in a box of bits but I have no memory of where they came from or what bike they were fitted to. Andy
It says Beru Germany on the top then 0 040 100 045 then 38040082A. It's stick coil, T-shaped with a metal cylinder that goes into the plug recess and sits over the plug. One end of the T piece has a hole in it where it bolts in place, the other end has a plug connector. This was superseded by part number 38010143A and this is compatible. Fingers crossed...
Ah okay. The 2 I have look like blocks of metal so I'm guessing earlier generation so 916/748/996 ? Andy
Exactly : Denzil's Resistance testing advice suggests mine may be ok. I need to take a look at the lead to the connector because it was pinched against the engine. If you have one that's totally surplus to requirements and known to work, that could be useful though, Denzil and Creamy both have coils but they've bought them as spares, so not exactly surplus to requirements... I have one i could sell OR if you still want one? I'll have to check which version it is, will do so today (lead built in or not).
Thanks Pavey. I did get one with a lead from eBay but it didn't do the trick. It looks now as though the ecu is at fault, so I've bought a more robust 848 one, again from eBay, which the seller is sending direct to Chrisw to reflash for my 999. If it turns out not to be the ecu after all and I do have two duff coils, can I get back to you? My coil did actually appear to be in spec for resistance though. Many thanks, OR
