Anyone Had An Oil Leak From Their Sf V4s Waterpump?

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by Sicilian, Nov 19, 2022.

  1. As the title, anyone else had this? Waterpump replaced by Vindis Ducati (under warranty) couple of weeks ago, I've only done around 70-80 miles on the new pump and look like theres oil again in the V of the engine!

Anyone else had similar on a V4 SF or V4 Pani?

  2. I thought there was an issue with the old style one which was rectified with a new design. Clearly not. My understanding is the seal fails allowing oil to exit through the weep hole in the crankcase.

  3. Thank you for the info, I'm going to contact the dealer today about it.

  4. Can you show us where to look on the bike ? Is it visible with the "bodywork" on ?

  5. These are photos I found on another forum. The one in these photos is much worse than mine or they never noticed and the V in the engine litterally filled with oil.

  6. Hmm, mines a 2021 and dry as a bone. So can't help on that one.

  8. it must be frustrating and it's inexcusable really as the method of successfully sealing a moving cylindrical part from water or oil goes back many decades. I remember a system on an 60's Italian car that lasted for 50,000 miles plus if used regularly.

  9. Bike being picked up again next week. Roads are dry today so taking it for an approx 80 mile ride, see if any more oil weeps out.

  10. depending on the design, it could settle down. Pulling one to pieces would almost certainly reveal the reason for constant failure.

  11. Took the SF out for a 70 mile today as was dry. Got back, looks like dry oil residue now. No weeping of oil after todays ride. So bit baffled. Spoke with Vindis, its all on record and I'm going to keep an eye on it. After todays ride I think it was residue from before.

I've cleaned the area and blown it out with a compressor where I can see and reach. I'll know for sure now if it does leak again. I'll commute to work on her providing its dry and no salt on the roads.

  12. Has the leak sorted itself?

  13. It was fixed by the dealer, just residue that was left over.
