Anyone Recommend A Pop Up Gazebo?

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Pablo Pirate, May 25, 2016.

  1. Howdo!

Started do a few more trackdays and the odd race and it's become apparent you can't always get a garage. Anyone use a pop up Gazebo? Any recommendations? After roughly 3M x 3M.

    Thanks for any info

  2. I bought one from Costco. Not cheap but good value and came in a roller bag with pockets for all the bits and went in the back of my C class Merc estate with the back seat down. Putting it up was a struggle single handed but there is always someone at a track day prepared to give you a hand. Andy

  3. 24mx have had them on special offer down from ~£350 to ~£130 and they are good and very quick to put up. I think the supplies were limited but they might still have some.

They also have bike mats which are a cracking buy and something I wish i started using ages ago.

  4. 3 sided gazebo, £124.99 including VAT, free postage, 246 in stock. 4th side £17.99 extra. Costco is a little more expensive at £175. Andy

  5. I had a MX24 pop gazebo, was blown to pieces in one day at Cadwell. Frame stood up well but the quality of the roof was poor, ripped nearly every eyelet out so ended up using paracord around the actual frame rather than the d rings on the canopy. You can buy replacement awnings but if they are the same quality I'd be careful.

  6. Ah great haha it seems pretty decent quality as well. Was it the same one that you had Drinky; all one piece pop out frame?

  7. In their advert, 24MX do say it is improved quality. The Costco one uses a heavy duty sheeting that zips together and attaches to the framework with Velcro. The aluminium frames look identical and could be a little more robust IMO. Andy

  8. Ours is getting used again at Anglesey so a bit of Welsh wind will wreck it if anything will! I'll report back on any excitement but it was fine at Cadwell.

  9. I need one for Anglesey as well. Looks alright but if the roof gets blown to bits its gonna be a frustrating weekend.

  10. Probably making it sound worse than it is, basically the frame held up well to a good battering from some strong winds at Cadders but the corner guy rope attchments all pulled out when the wind lifted the gazeboo off the ground. I overcome this by tying guy ropes to the frame rather than the sheet. My canopy has 3 or 4 ripped corners now but its still usable.

  11. Oh and the bag is about a ft to small for frame, which is bloody stupid.

  12. I will try and find out who made my one, they are common in the race paddock.
I had a cheaper one for a while it was very poor quality compared to one I have now.

The company had a stand at the NEC (autosport show I think) race licence holders get in for free and the company was offering a good discount.

I think mine is the same as a Hamilton professional gazebo (Hamilton Motorsport supply Car Covers, Instant Marquees, CTEK Battery Conditioners, Cair-o-Port, and So Much More. but different supplier/ less cost. All the hinged parts are metal, the alloy box / hex section is quite big and parts are available to buy to repair it, the material used to cover it is more like a cloth than plastic.

I guess it depends what you are after, I had a Fiamma Awning fitted to side of my trailer for test days, this pulled out in 5 -10 mins and was fine when it had weights on the legs, but I'd be a bit less confident to leave that up over night. I'd have one in an instant if I had a tall van for track days.

I had no issues leaving my Gazebo up over several days in strong wind, I use bungee cords or straps in the corners attached to 20LTR oil drums I fill with water in the paddock (obviously we are at events for a longer periods of time)

I don't have insurance to cover gazebo hits McLaren or Ferrari or shiny lorry trailer parked nearby so worth spending a bit extra.

  13. My one was maybe from this company and this model, I can't find the paper work.

I got it cheaper than RRP and I had to specify medal joints if it is the same company, as they have a plastic joint option.
    The walls are extra.

I have a 6x3 (which is quite big) I'd go smaller for a bike.

  15. How cheap do you want to go ? B&Q have a 3m square, 3 drop sides for £80. Andy

  16. If you have room your better off with a Gala Tent, far stronger than a gazebo but a lot bulkier to transport with poles, joints, covers etc etc. That said once its up its far sturdier than any type of gazebo. Have a look around the race paddocks you''ll see loads of them.

  17. I have a Gala shade pro 50 in size 4.5 x 3.
I bought it more than 10 years ago and it has been used a lot. A bit grubby on the roof cover now but still works as well as it should with no dramas.
Over the years, in the varied paddocks we have been in we saw so many of the thin, square steel framed ones fold with the wind, take off never to be seen again, or just fall apart while being put up. You often see one or more unceremoniously dumped in the waste bins by the end of the day! I expect you could certainly get through one every one to two years, even with light use, making a quality one a cost effective choice.
The bigger size was great while me and my 2 lads were racing Rotax Max karts, but still comes in handy for 2 or 3 track bikes and a bit of work / sit / chill space.
