950 Are 950s Allowed On Here?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by mmdog251, Jul 4, 2017.

  1. Hi
Just about to trade in my 2010 1200s for Multi 950. I have had the 1200 for nearly 5 years and done 19000 miles. It's going great, just come back from a trip to the Hartz mountains, so I hope I have not dropped a clanger! Just about to turn 70 so a bit lower & lighter will be good and impressed by the test ride.

The rear grab handles look the same as a DVT, has anyone fitted a rack / carrier to it? I don't want the top box just something to bungy a bag to. Cheers

  2. Welcome, always awesome to hear slightly more mature guys to still be loving it, I met a 78 year old gent in loomies today who's just sold his 749 and bought a new Ducati Supersports . Said it was what kept him young, rock on mate and enjoy your new ride :)

  4. Welcome & congrats on your imminent purchase. Had a 950 from the dealer as a courtesy bike & your comment about wanting something lower & lighter is interesting.

I too was expecting it to be lighter than its bigger brother but it physically felt heavier, in every aspect.

A quick geeky google revealed a dry weight of approx 205kg.
    ( I think your 2010 1200s is circa 192kg).

As for lower, the 950 felt higher (840mm non adjustable unless you swap the seat) than a 1200s (795-820mm adjustable).

Genuinely not trying to hijack your thread, just trying to be helpful in advance of your purchase & would be interested to hear your comments?

Best of luck whichever way you go.

    Cheers

  5. You are right about the weight, the demonstrator I tried had the low seat fitted. I found it slower to turn in because of the bigger front wheel but quickly got used to it. It also felt smoother than the 1200, I had the 1200 ecu reflashed which made a difference & got rid of the exhaust valve but still a bit lumpy in town, I have not tried a dvt.
It has been a brilliant bike, couple of probs fixed under guarantee, that's all, so hope the new one is as good.

    Thanks for replies

  6. Had a 950 as a loaner when my 2015 1200s had it´s service
liked the engine a lot, nice and revy

Had it for 5 hours and did ride all type of roads... nothing else to do :)

A salesman asked me what i did think of it when i returned

My answer was - a little less of everything compared to my 1200 but still a good bike....

  7. Absolutely loving my 950, go for it they are great
