Thought I’d upgrade, update the armour in my Ducati ( Rev It ) Tour jacket, it’s probably 4 years old but little used, it’s the old type of armour which appears to be moulded pieces of hard plastic which digs into my elbows and shoulders. What are the new regulations ? I’m thinking D30 but they sell ghost, level 1 and level 2. Which one is now suitable for a touring jacket ? Not looking for track day armour just something suitable for the style of riding jacket.
Looking at various makes of armour it seems to be a similar size, certain the shoulder is all the same, 3 makes of armour fit in the back pocket.
I recommend viscoelastic armours (i.e. SAS-TEC, D30, Forcefield Isolator 2 and Knox MicroLock). These ranges include CE level 2 armour, which is more protective, yet their elasticity makes them comfy. Armour can vary significantly in size and shape, so it’s worth double checking before you buy. I’m not a fan of D30 Ghost because it’s so floppy. (You don’t want armour to budge out of place in a crash!) And I find shaped armour comfier than stuff that flops about. YMMV. I like SAS-TECbecause it lasts ten years before needing replacement, which is twice as long as other viscoelastic armour. If it fits your gear, SAS SC-1/EVO protectors are excellent: https://www.mcgearhub.com/motorcycl...w-sc-1-evo-protectors-knees-elbows-shoulders/
I have a spare and unused D30 back protector if you're interested. Will have to get it out of storage to check the size. £25 posted to UK address.
