Today I found an advert from a local village garage that sells mainly high performance cars selling an absolute Mint 2009 848 with only 400 miles ! £8290 . Just 6 miles the road from me in Norfolk . What do you think of the price ? Can’t be many about like this one ?
Looking at this one it is only worth about £6k tops - this is a far better buy all round for the same money and will hold it's value more in the future too... only 3000 miles! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-62-...180132?hash=item2157d02764:g:0hgAAOSwM0lcq5MJ
Agree. Low mileage but nothing special. £6K tops. Get a SE Corse with not many more miles for less then that.
I’m going to have a peep tomorrow just out of curiosity. Compare my 848 with it . It should have just out of the crate quality . I think it is a tad high on the price but I believe not as low as 6k. Someone will fall in love with and buy it if they want it bad enough .
It's a base model, compared with the Corse above it isn't worth any more than £2500 less than that - it's all relative. Zero miles and it's about right at £8500, 400 miles may as well be 1000 or 3000. I would hazard a guess in has zero service history and no MOT's to prove mileage is genuine anyway.
That's because I am right but the biggest win with the Corse is future value as well, it will be worth double a similar base model and more in a few years...
So, I will be better off in the long run upgrading to a Corse for £8500 then an 899 for £9500 . Totally different bikes but I’m liking the pre Panigale look and less rider gizmos.
I think low mileage as new bikes are only ever worth a premium if you aren’t going to use them. Ref the panigale versus 848 corse thing, totally different kettle of fish. I’ve gone back to an 848 evo and it’s better I’m some ways, better stability, nicer throttle connection and some how feels gruntier (because you get whatever power you ask for whenever you ask for it) But it’s also harshly suspended as standard and bloody hard work in town and a massive stretch to the handle bars so less comfortable. Swings and roundabouts
In 2009 I got my 58 plate 848 with only 1400 miles on it. Termi exhausts and an alarm, for the same price as a brand new 848. No brainer. Why on earth does someone buy a bike just to take the depreciation hit and move it on
I mostly agree, although I guess nervous buyers see a fresh engine and full 2 year warranty as worth some value. Also perhaps some see a relationship with a dealer buying brand new as comforting should there be issues although I doubt many think like this
I also think the 848 will also suffer when the EVO is generally only a few hundred quid more on the used market and definitely a better bike
8k is very optimistic for 09 bike with 400 miles. if its been sat for most of the last 10 years without being serviced or knowing how it was stored. i would be wary. re-commissioning costs could spiral up very fast indeed!
Agree with that . I don’t want to change bikes yet . My 848 is 6 months old with me and a 2010 with 9000 m . In a couple of weeks its spending a day with Carl Harrison Motorcycles in Norfolk . After that I will have a bike that I will know a lot more about and will be set up hopefully so much better. Looking forward to it .
