Barn Find - Ducati

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Oly, Sep 22, 2020.

  1. I’ve just bought a barn find, there are 2 mz bikes, an Ariel red Hunter and a little Ducati 250.
I was wondering if anyone knew what the Ducati was, it’s 1981 and a 250.
I am trying to ascertain what it is and if it’s worth anything , as I will probably sell it on

  2. I should as the last three are the Ariel

  3. Looks like you've bagged some nice bits there. How much are you wanting for the MZ?

  4. There’s two mz bikes, I have the log book for just one of them, and there are two spare tanks . If you are interested they will definitely be sold on. I only want to keep the Ducsti and ariel. And maybe even sell the Ducati.
I can get them out tomorrow and get some better pics

  5.
  6. One of the mz looks like a scooter type of thing

  7. I'll send my buddy a link to this thread...

  8. It looks like a Mk3 show us a pic' of the cam support block* and the engine number.
*The part that sits above the spark plug, engine number on the C/cases in front of the cylinder.

  9. Ducati singles production ended in 1974 with the Mk3 and Desmos although Mototrans in Spain continued to build them under license until they packed in in 1981.

  10. Did ducati still made single cilinders in the eighties?
Maybe a spannish ducati vento then?

    Henk!!!

  11. The Vento was the last single made by Mototrans but only as a 350. They did produce a 250 Strada for 1978.

    Mototrans ceased trading in 1981.

  12. that looks very much like it, buy its definately a 250 as i have the log book

  13. its also registered in 1981

  14. I have a 1994 registered 907ie. Production for that models stopped in 1992. I guess that sometimes bikes sit in a showroom for a year or more before being sold and registered.

  15. The bike in your pic has a different tank and seat looking more like the Mk3s.

  16. just with regards to the two mz, i am not really interested in them so these will be sold off cheap.
i will keep the ariel as i like that and will make a nice classic when restored

  17. C/case numbers on the Italian bikes on the left hand case start with DM, they start with MD on the Spanish bikes.
The frames on this model were based on the late Parallel twins.
The barn find bike has a Widecase single frame, the same as those fitted to the last Italian made singles.
