Discussion in 'Sport Touring' started by morala, Apr 23, 2023.

  1. hi everyone,i was wondering if anyone knows if there is a socket under the seat to connect a charger to, my bike is a 2005 st3,i can see connectors under the seat but not sure what they are for, thanks for any advice yous can give cheers.

  2. Just connect a fly lead for your charger direct to the battery terminals.

  3. Hi Julian thanks for your reply and yes there is a socket like you described close to the lifting handle but wasnt sure what it was for and also what sort of connector would fit, only got the bike so still trying to find all the workings of it cheers.

  4. As Paul said, I'd connect a fly lead directly to battery. Much more reliable than relying on the bikes wiring loom and any accessory fuses to charge the battery.

  5. Glad to help; what I couldn't remember is that the "mini cigarette lighter" socket is the DIN standard.

You might want to consider Optimate's convertible DIN/cigarette lighter plug https://www.optimate.co.uk/products/o2-cig-din-plug?category=SAE+Accessory+Leads as an interface to your charger (possibly with another converter cable, depending on what leads your charger has).

It's possible to spend a small fortune on Optimate cables to enable interoperability of accessories (I have … ), but they are very good quality.
