749 will not fire up in the cold, turns over and pops from time to time, new battery fitted ,of course. thinking cables, and reading the old Exige thread on here, is he/they/them/xer still around? anywhere i can get a set and is it still a right tw@t fitting them?
If it’s spinning over quickly enough it may not be the starter cables that are the issue. That said the OEM ones are weedy and a better set will always be helpful https://www.ducati.tech/ edit, I just reread that and a very important ‘not’ was missing between the may and the be on the first line - sorry about that
Try running a jump cable from the battery negative to a good earth on the engine. See if starting improves. If it does, run an off the shelf battery lead from the battery negative to one of the visible bolts of the starter motor fixings. Exige does not seem to frequent this forum any more.
I can't help you with the fitting instruction and whether it a twat or not, but I think you can get what you need here https://www.ducati.tech/
Thanks again! kit bought and fitted. And yes, a complete tw2t of a job! worse than the 748 ECU, no idea if anyone else found that the solenoid will NOT go back in place once you piggy back the wires, so that is just held in by the heat shield but aint going anywhere. I do NOT want to do that again twice in one lifetime ..ffs. Good news of course is a very much improved starting procedure, first turn and she fires up so HIGHLY reccomended if you have some patience, some skill or a very good friend to help.
