Ey guys, as winter is approaching i'm looking to do some small mods to my Multi. one of them is changing the original battery into lightweight high-crank version. now I need your help. please let me know your opinions and experiences with these new kind of batteries. I found lots and lots of stories about them, so I'm a bit curious onto 'real' stories from fellow Multi drivers. looking forward to your replies
I have Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries marketed by Shido in two bikes, a 1098R and an 853 track bike. Both have been reliable, easy to keep charged and provide a healthy cranking current when above 15C. But and that is a BIG but, they do not like the cold and lose all advantage they have over a lead acid liquid/gel battery at 5C. I have just had to replace the battery in my Multistrada after the original one gave up the ghost and because I ride this bike in all weathers and temperatures, I have stuck with a good quality lead acid gel battery. Not exactly what your asking but I replaced the cables with high quality ones from a sponsor on this site and the difference is night and day with normal Agm battery. So if your looking for easy starting perhaps battery isn't the area to focus on it certainly wasn't for me but my bike is 5 years old and used ear round
