Dropped Mutley off for it belt service at DMC Moto this morning hoping to take out a new DVT for a test. Of course they haven't arrived yet so I was persuaded, against my better judgement, to take out a 1299 Panigale S for a quick spin. Weather was nice and I had a couple of hours so I ventured onto some of my favourite roads just to see how it compared with Mutley. GOOD GAWD! It was akin to being strapped to an Excocet fired between stone walls and hedges, leaping from crest to crest with one or both wheels off the floor at any one time!! Now don't get me wrong, the Panigale is absolutely awesome with some great toys such as the quick shifter and auto blipper (great fun!), none of which the new Mutley will have, together with some that it will (awesome front brakes), but honestly it was all too much. I got off the thing feeling like I had been beaten about the head, chest and shoulders with a very big stick!! Not to mention my aching knees and wrists. Everybody has to have a go on one of these but just be thankful you can get back on your comfy, sensible Mutley afterwards!
